I remember..... when Lanny(amongst many young men) was accepted by the 'new Government Scheme' to help young people gain skills due to lack of employment in the valleys. He was sent to Stevenage - a new town - to learn carpentry, and given a pair of new boots to go! There was great commotion at the family home in Church Street with 'the Aunts' Minnie, Maggie and Ronw crying about how they would manage without him!
